BURKS NEWS

With heavy hearts because of their love for the people of Burks, our pastors have announced that they will be moving in June. Rev. Leon Fraley is retiring this year and moving to New Jersey to be with his son and grandchildren. Rev. Nathan Malone has been invited by Bishop James Swanson to become a District Superintendent. Please see the attached letters from each of them to see more details.

“Share The Love Dance Party” was a huge success. People from all ages came together for a time of fellowship, food and fun and danced the night away. Special thanks to Sandra Parker and the Fellowship Team, and to Neil Carriker and the BUMMs for planning and implementing this event. Sandra Parker said it well in her facebook post, “We had an amazing time of fellowship and fun Saturday night at the Share the Love Dance Party. We also collected 3 boxes of food for the Soddy Daisy Food Bank along with some cash donations. Thanks to all who made this event a success.”

Confused about the new voter ID laws? There is a leaflet for you in the Narthex that explains all of the new regulations. Please take one and study it closely. Voting day is March 6th, 2012, and you must have a Federal or State ID to vote.

We welcome those who united with this congregation as members on January 22nd: Christy Uren, Allie Peck, Morgan Holland, Brittany Daniel and Jack and Linda Floyd.
